Baldur's Gate 3

The RPG that redefined what the genre can be. Turn-based tactical combat, thousands of branching decisions, and a co-op campaign you can actually finish — BG3 is a once-in-a-decade achievement.

Larian Studios spent years in early access refining Baldur’s Gate 3, and the result is a game so stuffed with reactive storytelling and player agency that two playthroughs feel like two different games. Every major decision ripples forward. Characters remember what you did. The world bends to your choices in ways that genuinely surprise.

The Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition ruleset gives the combat a satisfying tactical depth — but it never feels like homework. Environmental interactions (throw someone off a ledge, create fire then shoot a gas cloud, polymorph a boss into a harmless sheep) make encounters feel like puzzles with unlimited solutions.

The companions — Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, Lae’zel, and others — are among the best-written characters in gaming. Their arcs are long, meaningful, and frequently devastating.

Why PixelPick recommends it: If you only play one RPG this decade, make it this one. BG3 doesn’t just raise the bar — it leaves it somewhere most developers can’t see.
