DOOM Eternal

The most intense shooter ever made. DOOM Eternal turns demon-slaying into a rhythm game — you're always moving, always chain-killing, always running out of ammo in the best possible way.

DOOM Eternal demands you play it correctly — and when you do, it’s one of the most exhilarating experiences in gaming. The design philosophy is brutal and elegant: every demon drops a specific resource (health, armor, or ammo) when killed a specific way. Run out of ammo for your shotgun? Chainsaw a zombie. Low on health? Glory kill something. The game forces you to stay in motion, stay aggressive, and cycle through your entire arsenal constantly.

Mick Gordon’s soundtrack is one of the most propulsive in gaming history. The moment the music kicks in at the start of a combat encounter, something in your brain switches over.

The level design takes DOOM’s combat arenas and adds platforming and exploration sections between them — controversial, but it gives the fights room to breathe.

Why PixelPick recommends it: If you want to feel like the most dangerous thing in the universe for 15 hours, DOOM Eternal delivers that feeling better than anything else.
