Into the Breach

A turn-based tactics game where every move is a puzzle with a correct answer — and you can see exactly what the enemy will do next. Pure, crystalline strategy design.

Into the Breach strips turn-based tactics to its purest form. You control three mechs defending Earth from alien Vek creatures. Crucially: you can see every enemy’s next move before you take yours. The game is not about managing fog of war or hidden information — it’s about solving the puzzle in front of you with limited moves.

Every decision matters. Shove an enemy off the board with a mech punch. Push two enemies together so they damage each other. Sacrifice a mech’s HP to reposition a titan for a two-for-one hit. The grid is small (8x8), the pieces are few, and the depth is enormous.

Each squad of mechs plays completely differently — the Blitzkrieg squadron unleashes artillery, the Frozen Titans use ice mechanics, the Hazardous Mechs literally poison themselves to damage enemies. There are dozens of squads to unlock.

Why PixelPick recommends it: Free-to-play on mobile with a premium upgrade, and under $15 on PC. One of the tightest game designs ever made.
