Resident Evil Village
Vampires, werewolves, gothic mansions, and a giant lady who broke the internet — RE Village is the most stylish and relentlessly entertaining entry in the franchise.
Resident Evil Village is Capcom at the height of its powers. Building on RE7’s first-person foundation, Village expands the scope dramatically — a vast village surrounded by four distinct castles and estates, each with its own style, horror cadence, and memorable villain.
Lady Dimitrescu’s castle kicks things off: gothic, sumptuous, and terrifying. Heisenberg’s factory closes the loop with industrial machinery horror. The pacing between areas is masterful — just when one location exhausts its ideas, the game moves you somewhere fresh.
The combat has been upgraded into something genuinely fun. Resource management and merchant upgrades give you agency over your loadout. The game isn’t shy about becoming an action game in its final third, and the shift earns it.
Why PixelPick recommends it: One of the best horror games in years — beautiful, scary, and more fun than it has any right to be.
